India, China resume patrolling along LAC, soldiers exchange sweets

Indian and Chinese troops have resumed patrolling along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh, marking a significant de-escalation in border tensions after a gap of over four years. This development follows a military disengagement agreement finalized last week.

On Thursday, soldiers conducted patrols in the Depsang and Demchok areas, coordinating their movements to ensure transparency and mutual understanding. This resumption comes after the prolonged halt in patrolling, which had been in effect since a deadly clash in Galwan Valley in June 2020 that resulted in the deaths of 20 Indian soldiers.

In a gesture of goodwill, the troops also exchanged sweets at five locations along the LAC, including Chushul Maldo and Daulat Beg Oldi, coinciding with the Diwali celebrations.

The renewed patrolling efforts signal a hopeful step toward stabilizing relations between the two nations and restoring normalcy in border operations after years of heightened tensions.
