Maharashtra LoP Ambadas Danve suspended from the council for misbehaviour

The Upper House of the Maharashtra Legislature on Tuesday suspended Leader of Opposition Ambadas Danve (Shiv Sena UBT) for five days for using unparliamentary language in the House.

Danve was accused of using “derogatory” and “abusive” language against the BJP legislator Prasad Lad during the legislative business.

Following the heated moment, BJP legislators firmly demanded action against Danve leading to the adjournment of the house thrice.

Later, Legislative Affairs Minister Chandrakant Patil moved a resolution which was passed by a voice vote.

Lad had demanded Danve’s resignation for using abusive and derogatory language against him.

Lad had raised the issue of Rahul’s speech in the Lok Sabha in the Council and initiated the debate by condemning his remarks. BJP legislators had demanded a resolution be passed condemning the LoP in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi’s statement against Hindus.

Lad alleged that Danve started misbehaving with him while he was speaking. He demanded that Lad should apologize.

Deputy chairperson of the house Neelam Gorhe read the suspension order which said, “Leader of Opposition Ambadas Danve demonstrated indiscipline and used foul and abusive language towards legislator Prasad Lad.

“His behaviour tarnished the image and insulted the Council. If his misbehaviour is ignored, it could create a new precedence. A serious note is taken of his misbehaviour, and the house proposes his suspension for five days and bans him from entering the Vidhan Bhavan premises,” the order added.
